Auriculas seek to catch attention wherever they happen to be growing. Originally known as the alpine primrose originating in the Alps, auriculas were brough to the UK by Flemish weavers and they became familiar flowers to the weavers of Spitalfields who held them in the highest esteem. The Moorcroft Chairman’s grandmother started her working life at the age of twelve painting silk flowers in London’s Spitalfields market, and may well have painted auriculas on silk. The light centred variety were the most popular and it was to these that Emma Bossons turned. Familiar, much loved and readily available, auriculas have now taken their place in Moorcroft history, courtesy of John Massey and Ashwood Nurseries. Dimensions: H 16.00 x W 12.00 x D 12.00 cm. Shape 65/6. Limited Edition of 30.
