Moorcroft Limited Edition 1901 Ginger Jar, MCR-124
Originally founded as a studio in 1897 within a large ceramic company, James Macintyre & Co. Moorcroft pottery soon made its mark on the world. Today, Moorcroft leads the world of art pottery with its own distinctive design style. C W Sellors are proud to present this Moorcroft collection featuring stunning pottery designs.
Blackwell is a place of endless inspiration for Nicola. Time and time again its enchanting secrets and decorative detail appeal to her senses. It was almost 17 years ago when the Moorcroft designer first visited the Arts and Crafts House overlooking Lake Windermere and designed by Architect, Mackay Hugh Baillie-Scott in 1901. Ever since, she has been discovering original decorative features by leading Arts & Crafts designers, leaf-shaped door handles, ornate window catches, spectacular plasterwork, carved wood panelling and stained glass. Since her first Blackwell design, Nicola has perfected the art of recreating this special stained-glass effect- black leadwork and panes of colour, tinged with the slightest ash-grey. Her latest homage to Blackwell House sees blue birds, ruby tulips, roses and roundels filled with magenta spots. For admirers of rich, luxurious colour and for those who love a good story, 1901 meets and exceeds every expectation.
