Grand Seiko Watch Spring Drive. SBGA375G
The classic Grand Seiko Spring Drive has remained one of the brand’s most legendary and collectible models combining the motive force of a mainspring found in mechanical watches with the high precision of a quartz watch. Its impeccable precision was years in the making, beginning in 1977 when a young Seiko engineer known as Yoshikazu Akahane had the dream to create a watch with a one-second-a-day accuracy. It took him 27 years and over 600 prototypes, but eventually the Grand Seiko Spring Drive watch collection was born, and its success was guaranteed.
Boasting a perfect glide motion of the seconds hand, a 72 hour power reserve and a +/-1 second per day accuracy, this Grand Seiko Spring Drive watch is home to the 9R65 Spring Drive movement. Its flawless construction can be witnessed through the exhibition case back and on the gorgeous navy-blue coloured dial where multifaceted hands and markers deliver hours, minutes and seconds function, a date window at 3 o’clock and a power reserve indicator. The Grand Seiko Spring Drive watch continues to impress with a handsome stainless steel case measuring to 40mm in diameter and 12.5mm in thickness equipped with a 100 metre water resistant screw in crown, a stainless steel bracelet with three-fold clasp and push button release and dual curved sapphire crystal glass, a material famed for its scratch resistance and anti-reflective coating.
