Moorcroft Number Edition Carmine Claremont Vase MCR-294
Originally founded as a studio in 1897 within a large ceramic company, James Macintyre & Co. Moorcroft pottery soon made its mark on the world. Today, Moorcroft leads the world of art pottery with its own distinctive design style. We are proud to present this Moorcroft collection featuring stunning pottery designs.
William Moorcroft’s Claremont design, circa 1905, was so popular it stayed in production for over forty years. Moorcroft designer, Vicky Lovatt has often foraged for fungi over the years, bringing over a dozen utterly different varieties to everlasting ceramic life during her Moorcroft design career. Carmine Claremont holds a distinctly crisp, and autumnal palette, allowing the sharp colours of a woodland crop of fungi, flaunting their gills like petticoats, to take you into an exciting new season of Claremont. Rather than applying a flambe glaze, as would have been done in William’s era, Carmine Claremont is painted with metallic oxides that create a flambe colour palette for us to enjoy over a century since the first such pieces emerged from Moorcroft’s kiln. Dimensions: H 14.00 x W 12.00 x D 12.00 cm. Shape 162/5.
