Moorcroft Limited Edition California Butterfly Vase, MCR-013
Originally founded as a studio in 1897 within a large ceramic company, James Macintyre & Co. Moorcroft pottery soon made its mark on the world. Today, Moorcroft leads the world of art pottery with its own distinctive design style. We are proud to present this Moorcroft collection featuring stunning pottery designs.
Fresh from the success of her design for the annual Moorcroft May Open Weekend, wherein all members of staff can submit their own designs for auction, Helen has reworked her puffin design. After all, who can honestly say they don’t like puffins? Their comical appearance is heightened by their red and black eye-markings and bright orange legs. This clown among seabirds is one of the world’s favourite birds. With half of the UK population at only a few sites, it is a Red List species, according to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. Helen’s design is a brilliant cacophony of movement, underwater chaos, bubbles and colour as puffins scramble and dive to catch tasty morsels. The birds are frequent visitors to Skomer Island, less than a mile off the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast.
